Made In Shropshire Christmas Exhibition - Jood Gough
I am a Shropshire-born painter and experimental print-maker and I make occasional forays into 3D work as well.
I am a founding member of Borderland Visual Arts, and a member of Art Shed, along with painter Janie McLeod and Sculptor Bob Knowles. Both are Oswestry-based groups. I tutor various - mainly adult – groups and individuals, and in early 2010 I became a member of Made in Shropshire.
My current work is derived mainly from landscape. I usually use acrylics when painting, as I like to work quickly, but when it comes to print-making, I tend to work much more slowly, and I mix different techniques in the same print – hybrid prints if you like - so that quite often a single image is built up from
layers of etchings, relief prints, chine collé, and computer-manipulated images printed out on an ink-jet printer.
The inking up and press processes can take up to 20 or 30 minutes each for such complex images – maybe one of the reasons why I rarely do an edition even of 2 or 3. Hence most of my prints are unique and individual images - though parts of an image may appear as one of the layers in another print.
