Revill, Revill is a small, friendly, Surbiton based business supplying skilfully crafted Lampshades.

It was over five years ago now, whilst on maternity leave, that Karen decided to follow both her heart and her head and prepare for a new more flexible career.

Having always enjoyed sitting down with her sewing machine and producing soft furnishings for herself as well as for friends and family, she decided to set about learning the finishing details and finer techniques from the experts, in order to turn her hobby into a business. After two years of studying and many practical projects later, she successfully gained a City & Guilds in Soft Furnishings. She discovered during this time, as well as enjoying making Curtains and Blinds, that she had a real love and creative satisfaction in the craft of Lampshade making. She decided to take it further and has since been lucky enough to meet and be taught by some very talented people who have all been extremely encouraging and supportive. Prior to this, for almost 20 years Karen worked in the Fashion Industry and during this time she worked in many areas; sales, event organisation, merchandising, quality control,  buying and throughout was always involved with fabric and design.

Animals, birds, pattern and text occur frequently in her work along with the odd teapot as well. Integral to a lot of her work is the making process and she loves working on products with an interactive element such as the ‘cut out and make’ cards and kits she has designed.
Counting Birds was a Scottish Book Trust Book of the Month and was recognised in the critics' choice in the Association of Illustrators Images 34 exhibition. In 2011 Alice was awarded a Booktrust Best New Illustrator Award designed to celebrate the rising talent in the field of illustration.

So What's New - V & A Textile Cards

Art Angels, have produced a brilliant selection of cards using textile designs from the V & A archive.
Over the past few months Art Angels have been working with the Victoria and Albert Museum on a collection of products to tie in with their forthcoming British Design retrospective exhibition, which opens in March 2012.
They have been looking at 1950s textile designs, which they feel complement their series of images by contemporary printmakers
The museum approached Chris Cordingly from Art Angels in advance of this Spring’s exhibition at the V&A, British Design 1948–2012, an exhibition which links design through from the last Olympic games held here through to the forthcoming games this Summer. Recognised for their work with contemporary artists with stylistic links to "Festival of Britain” era, Art Angels are a natural choice of partner for the Museum.
The new cards include a group of furnishing fabrics by Lucienne Day and remind one of the importance of relationships between commissioning organisations (eg., Heal’s, British Celanese, Edinburgh Weavers, Liberty) and artists.
The collection of cards can be found here.

So What's New - Rob Ryan This Bell Will Ring

This Bell will ring when you take me in your arms and hold me
This Bell will ring when we get it all wrong
This Bell will ring when we make this world just slightly better
This Bell will ring when the leaves fall
This Bell will ring when we forget to remember
This Bell will ring when you hold a flower to my lips
This Bell will ring when we kiss goodnight
This bell will ring when from nothing something comes

and they can all be found here!
